What is Giving Tuesday?
Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday focuses on bringing people together around the values of giving back. It's a global movement to connect individuals and organizations to the communities they serve and empower every day.
Unlike traditional campaigns, #GivingTuesday is a reminder to us all that even the smallest gifts can make a big difference. Fueled by social media, this is an opportunity to connect and collaborate with others for the good of our community.
#GivingTuesday has become a global movement, and change starts at home! By supporting the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County, you are showing support for your friends and neighbors in their journey for a better life.
How can YOU help?
Small gifts change lives! Donate $3, $5, $10, or more to change the life of an adult student.
Spread awareness! Connect with your family, friends, and neighbors to discuss why literacy education is vital to our community. Adult low literacy is linked to nearly every socio-economic issue in the United States.
Inspire action! Include the hashtag #GivingTuesday in your social media posts to encourage others to participate. We want to see your #Unselfie! Tag the @ftbendliteracy in your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram posts.
Donate your time! Many of our adult literacy classes are led by volunteer tutors. Commit to changing a life by leading a class each week for at least one academic semester.
Make it fun!
